Stairlift Trader Safe Trade Guidelines Sadly We live in a society of Liers, Cheaters, and Scammers. There is a small army of low life scum who trawl the internet looking for free classified ads. There main intention is to relieve you of your goods or cash (Scammers) Many operate outside the UK! The Scams are very crude and badly implemented but we feel it only right to bring this to your attention. The Scammers normally operate under the pretence of import / export of goods. They ask the sellers to export their items for sale etc. Over a period of email correspondences they will ask you to send a cheque for the import/export of the goods plus add additional shipping payments and claim they will reimburse your payment / money on receipt of the items Imports / Exports of stairlifts This is not viable for anyone! Not even large "Sole Traders" or "legitimate companies" unless they are moving large volumes of stock. Stairlift Trader is not aware of any person or company that would export used second hand stairlifts to another country. If you receive such a request please throw the email in the bin (Have you ever tried to gift wrap a stairlift for posting :) Bouncing Cheque's They may send you a cheque or money order! This cheque will be for Treble the amount you asked for the item. They will ask you to cash the cheque and deduct your payment for the goods. Then you will be asked to transfer the outstanding balance back to them via a third party payment processor such as Western Union. They are living in hope that you will transfer the outstanding balance before the cheque bounces like a rubber ball Please use a bit of common sense! Follow the simple rules below We recommend "Cash on collection only" C'mon we are talking a few hundred pounds at most. If they can not offer cash then ask them to wait until the cheque has cleared. Any legitimate buyer will be more than happy to wait for the clearance of the cheque Do not give out Bank Details to Anyone • Deal with UK Residents Only • Collection in Person Only • Payment Cash or Cheque with a Bankers Card Please do not become a victim of fraud! Ignore all such emails Carry out all transactions in person / collection only Nigerian scam (plural Nigerian scams) An attempt to defraud by sending out large amounts of emails stating that the recipient has inherited a vast fortune, but will need to supply banking account details, or to send payment for fees, before the inheritance can be passed on.
